Fees & Insurance
Your Investment in Lasting Connection
Choosing to start therapy is a significant decision—not just for your schedule, but for your future. At Relevant Connections, we believe that your relationships are the most important investment you will ever make.
I founded this practice because I believe couples and individuals deserve more than “band-aid” solutions. Our fees reflect the high level of specialized, systemic training our clinicians bring to every session. From our commitment to EMDR training for every therapist to our expertise in EFT and the Gottman Method, you aren’t just paying for a conversation; you are investing in a proven process for deep, structural change.

Affordable Options and Sliding Scale
We understand that therapy is a significant investment, both emotionally and financially. That’s why we offer low-cost options and a sliding-scale fee structure for clients who qualify. We aim to make quality mental health services as accessible to as many people as possible.
Why We Are “Out-of-Network”
At Relevant Connections, we have chosen to remain an out-of-network provider. We do this to ensure that you remain the focus of our work, rather than an insurance company.
The Problem with Labels: To cover a session, insurance companies often require me to “diagnose” one partner as having a mental health disorder. We believe the “problem” is usually the cycle between you, not a defect within you.
Privacy & Control: By staying out-of-network, your records remain private, and we—together—decide how long and how often we meet based on your actual needs, not a corporate quota.
Specialized Care: Insurance often doesn’t recognize the value of specialized “conjoint” work (couples/family therapy). Being out-of-network allows us to provide the high-level, systemic care your family deserves.
Using Your Insurance Benefits
Many of our clients utilize their “Out-of-Network” benefits. If you have a PPO or an HSA/FSA, you may be eligible for significant reimbursement.
Check Your Coverage: We recommend calling your provider and asking about “Out-of-Network Outpatient Mental Health” benefits.
Easy Reimbursement: We provide you with a monthly “Superbill” through our secure client portal. You can submit this directly to your insurance company for reimbursement.
HSA/FSA Friendly: We accept Health Savings Account and Flexible Spending Account cards for all sessions.
Payments
We process all billing through your secure client portal. We employ Simple Practice to ensure your payment information remains confidential and secure. Accepted forms of payment include credit cards, debit cards, FSAs, and HSA cards. Payments are processed at the conclusion of each session.
Cancellation Policy
We recognize that life is unpredictable. However, if you need to cancel a session, we ask that you kindly provide at least 24 hours’ notice to avoid being charged for the full rate of the session.
OTHER FEES:
Cancellation Fee: $100
We reserve your appointment time exclusively for you. We require at least a 24-hour cancellation notice. If you cancel late or fail to show for your appointment without appropriate notice, you will receive a $100 late cancellation fee added to your account. If you do not show up to the session, you will be responsible for the entire session fee if the therapist was not informed before the session start time.
NSF/Chargeback Fee: $35.00
If your payment check is returned as Non-Sufficient Funds (NSF), or your credit card company reverses your payment, you will be charged a $35 fee to cover our costs.
Medical Record Requests: $50
This fee is charged for compiling and sending your medical records to a third party.
Documentation Fee: $320.00-$500
per hour, 30-minute minimum
This fee is to compensate your therapist for the time invested in completing forms on your behalf (e.g., FMLA, disability, hospitals, insurance, etc.).
Court Testimony or Appearance Fees:
Please note that our providers DO NOT perform court evaluations, nor do they voluntarily appear in court on behalf of individuals, children, or families. In the event that it is legally required by court order/subpoena to participate in any legal proceedings, a $2,500 retainer fee will be charged to cover the required services, which are billed at $320.00-$500
per hour:
• Preparation and submission of records
• Consultations with other professionals involved in the case
• Travel time to/from court-related activities
• Any other court-related services provided
