    Couples Therapy for ADHD

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that can affect a person’s ability to pay attention, control impulsive behaviors, and regulate their activity level. ADHD can affect relationships in a number of ways:

-Difficulty with communication; this can look like difficulty paying attention, getting lost in hyperfocus, or forgetting conversations.

-Difficulties with memory, such as remembering important dates or details.

-Difficulty with organization and time management, for example, not completing tasks around the house.

-Difficulty with impulse control or emotional regulation. This can impact financial decisions, alcohol use,  explosive fights, sex and intimacy, and much more.

ADHD can present unique challenges in relationships, but with the right support and strategies, it is possible to overcome these challenges and build a strong and healthy partnership. Contact me to learn more about how couples therapy can help.
