Our Philosophy: Healing the System, Not Just the Symptom
Most people come to therapy because they feel stuck in a “cycle.” Whether it’s the same argument with a spouse, a recurring feeling of anxiety, or a family dynamic that feels impossible to change, it’s easy to feel like you are the problem.
At Relevant Connections, we see it differently.
We believe that no one lives in a vacuum. You are part of a complex “system”—a web of relationships, family history, and life stressors that shape how you move through the world. Our approach isn’t just about “fixing” an individual; it’s about understanding the Relevant Connections in your life and shifting the patterns that are no longer serving you.
Meet the Founder: Dr. Jennifer Kendall
PhD, LMFT | Founder of Relevant Connections
As a therapist and the owner of Relevant Connections, I believe that healing happens when we address the “Relevant Connections” between our past experiences, our current relationships, and our physical selves. My work is deeply rooted in Attachment Theory and a Trauma-Informed lens, meaning I view your struggles not as “defects,” but as learned adaptations to your life’s story.
Why I Founded Relevant Connections: A Mission for Better Couples Care
I have heard the “horror stories” too often: couples who walked into therapy looking for a lifeline, only to find themselves in a room with a therapist who wasn’t trained in the complexities of relationship systems. They left feeling more polarized, misunderstood, or even more hopeless than when they started.
I believe that couples deserve better.
I founded Relevant Connections because I saw a desperate need for a practice where “couples therapy” isn’t just a service listed on a menu—it is our core passion. I wanted to build a sanctuary of highly trained, systemic therapists who understand that relationship distress isn’t just about “poor communication.” It’s about the deep-seated attachment patterns, family histories, and systemic “knots” that keep people stuck.
Getting to the Root of the Issue
At Relevant Connections, we don’t just “referee” your arguments or offer “band-aid” tips. We go deeper. My mission was to create a team that stays in the trenches with you to find the root of the issue.
We are a practice of Systemic Specialists. This means we are trained to look at the “dance” between you and your partner, rather than pointing fingers at the “dancer.” We integrate the gold standards of relationship care—including EFT, Gottman, and Attachment-based models—to ensure that your experience is transformative, not just conversational.
Our Promise to You
When you walk through our doors in Frisco, you aren’t just getting a therapist; you are getting a clinical partner who is deeply committed to the health of your system.
We Don’t Take Sides: We are for the relationship. We create a balanced space where both partners feel heard and challenged.
We Are Trauma-Informed: We understand that your past informs your present. We integrate EMDR and somatic therapy to help heal the wounds that show up in your marriage.
We Are Relentlessly Specialized: Every therapist on our team is hand-picked for their commitment to ongoing systemic training.
You shouldn’t have to worry about whether your therapist “knows what they are doing” with a couple. At Relevant Connections, we’ve built a home for the specialized, high-level care your family deserves.
Are you ready to experience the difference that systemic therapy can make? Let’s start the work together.
